Tax Payments will be accepted by the Town of Canaan Tax Collector beginning January 4, 2012.
The Tax Collector will attend at the Town Hall at 1647 County Route 5 in the Town of Canaan on the following days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the purpose of receiving payment of taxes.
Payments are accepted in Cash or Checks payable to Charlotte Cowan, Tax Collector. The due date for bills without penalty is January 31st and we do accept the postmark. Beginning with February 1st there will be 1% interest charged on the balance which will increase by 1% each month on any outstanding balance. Second notices are sent out April 1st and an additional $1.00 notice fee will be added to the balance.
Taxes may be paid in up to 3 installments – Please note interest will be charged monthly on any remaining balance.
